The public will have an opportunity to comment during a meeting that will provide information to better understand the Savannah River Site's Tank 16H Closure Module.

The Savannah River Operations Office has requested approval from S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control to close Tank 16H. The meeting will be at 6 p.m. March 25 at the DOE Meeting Center, 230 Village Green Blvd., Suite 220.

"The subject Tank 16H Closure Module, available for public review and comment, describes the processes by which DOE removed waste from Tank 16H, sampled residual contaminants, characterized remaining residual inventory, and isolated the tank from the HTF facilities that remain operable," officials wrote in a public notice.

In addition to the meeting, a 30-day public comment period for review of the subject Tank 16H Closure Module began March 10 and will conclude April 9. Comments can be submitted in writing to Bridget Clarke, SCDHEC/Water, 2600 Bull St., Columbia, S.C. 29201-1708 or by email at clarkebm@dhec.sc.gov.

The Tank 16H Closure Module, along with additional subject information, is available for review and copying at the DOE Public Reading Room located in the Gregg-Graniteville Library at USC Aiken, 171 University Parkway. A copy of the closure module document is also available online at www.scdhec.gov/Apps/Environment/PublicNotices.
