The members of the Aiken Concert Band are celebrating St. Patrick's Day on Tuesday with a spring concert.
On the concert's program, in addition to some Irish music, will be music from American band conductor John Philip Sousa, movie composer John Williams, Italian opera composer Gioachino Rossini and the film "The Chronicles of Narnia" series. There will also be "Ticheli's stirring 'American Elegy' composed in memory of those who lost their lives (during the 1999 shooting at) Columbine High School," as stated in a press release.
The show will be at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at USC Aiken's Etherredge Center, 471 University Parkway.
Advance tickets are $7, $10 and $12.50, with a $7 student rate; tickets the day of are $9, $12 and $15, with a $9 student rate.
This is will be the first concert conducted by the new music director, Todd Jenkins.
Jenkins, a North Augusta native, moved back from Charleston last year and is taking the place of former conductor Ryan Westberry, who was hired as Berkeley County School District's fine arts coordinator.
