According to reports provided by the Aiken Department of Public Safety:



A 57-year-old Aiken man was charged with criminal domestic violence Friday after he choked his girlfriend and threw wine bottles at her during an altercation. The man was also charged with disorderly conduct because he smelled of alcohol and exhibited signs of intoxication.



A 37-year-old Aiken man was charged with third-degree assault and battery Sunday after he confronted a man who was walking with his mother on Colleton Avenue and assaulted him. The man also was charged with disorderly conduct because he smelled of alcohol and appeared to be impaired.



An 18-year-old Aiken man was charged with disorderly conduct and simple possession of marijuana Saturday after creating a disturbance outside a restaurant on York Street. The man smelled of marijuana and admitted to smoking it, and officers found a bag of green plantlike material in his possession.



A 57-year-old Aiken man was charged with disorderly conduct Sunday after he was found walking on a sidewalk of Laurens Street. Officers took him to a hotel, but he was refused a room because of his behavior and attitude.



A 47-year-old Aiken man was charged with shoplifting Friday after he tried to take $164 in merchandise from a store in Aiken Mall without paying.



An unknown man shoplifted several items from a store on Richland Avenue on Friday.



An Aiken woman reported jewelry missing from her Wise Creek Lane home on Friday.



An 18-year-old Aiken man reported an iPad stolen from Aiken High School on Friday.



An 86-year-old Aiken woman reported a scam Friday after someone called her home claiming to be her grandson and told her he needed money to bond out of jail in Peru. The suspect hung up when the victim said she would have to call his mother. The woman phoned her daughter and found out her grandson was home in California.



A 24-year-old Aiken woman was scammed out of $500 Saturday after she wired money to a person in Africa to purchase a car. The victim said she never received the vehicle, and the suspect is asking for more money.



A vehicle break-in was reported Saturday on Whiskey Road. The owner reported a deposit bag with more than $8,000 missing.



Two additional vehicle break-ins were reported Friday on Bennett Avenue and Edgefield Avenue.



According to reports provided by the Aiken County Sheriff's Office:



A Georgia woman was charged with criminal domestic violence Sunday after she scratched a man she formerly lived with during an argument over a phone at a gas station on Sand Bar Ferry Road in Beech Island.



A Jackson woman reported Sunday that her boyfriend threw mashed potatoes in her hair during an argument over his "drinking habit."



An Aiken man reported vandalism Sunday after someone slashed the tires on his vehicles that were parked on Spaulding Drive.



A burglary was reported Saturday on Beech Island Avenue in Beech Island. Two additional burglaries were reported Sunday on Metts Park Circle in Aiken and Southern Pines Drive in North Augusta.
