An Aiken man reported being assaulted by several men while walking on Laurens Street late Thursday, according to the Aiken Department of Public Safety.
The incident happened about 10:20 p.m. on Laurens Street N.W., according to an incident report. The 63-year-old victim said he was walking north on Laurens Street when someone struck him in the back of the head and knocked him to the ground.
The victim said four or five men then assaulted him and went through his belongings, which included bags of groceries and a satchel, police said. He told officers the suspects appeared to be in their teens or a little older.
Once the suspects took off, the victim walked to a nearby gas station to call for help, police said. Officers were able to retrieve most of the groceries, the victim's two cellphones and his keys.
The only description the victim could provide was that one of the suspects appeared to be wearing a light-color T-shirt.
