How much is enough?

I'm calling regarding the comment from the local Democrats that a 15-percent tax on the dividends and capital gains are so low that it is ridiculous, but what they seem to forget is that the dividends are profits and that's not even taxes in the corporate world, it's about 35 percent, another 15 percent. How much is enough? The idea of raising taxes on dividends is just ridiculous. Matter of fact, in many European countries there are no taxes on dividends or capital gains. Part of the reason there are capital gains is inflation pushing prices up.

Divided base

I have a question for the Republicans. How do they expect to win the election in November if the Republicans can't even decide on one candidate. They've got half the people voting for Mitt Romney and half the people voting for Ron Paul. If half of the Republicans vote for Mitt Romney and half of the Republicans vote for Ron Paul and all the Democrats vote for Barack Obama, guess who wins the presidency. Right, Barack Obama.

Roots

All these Yankees complaining about the South and the heat. My advice is that you really need to go North where you belong. You Yankees don't have any sense of place or permanency. Us Southerners have a sense of place and history. I don't know how anybody could pull up roots and leave an area and move South and then complain about it.

Clint Eastwood

I don't know why the media and Internet are being so hard on poor old Clint E. talking to an empty chair at the Republican Convention. He seems like a nice old guy. My 80-something mother (also a staunch Republican) talks to chairs, her television and other non-responsive objects. It's called senile dementia, so let's give old Clint a break, perhaps he really believed Obama was there.
