An Aiken man said he was robbed at gunpoint late Monday, according to the Aiken Department of Public Safety. The incident happened about 9 p.m. at an apartment on Stone Drive, according to an incident report. Bystanders said the victim and witness had already left the scene.

The victim later returned and told officers he had been at a home on Stone Drive visiting friends and was walking home when someone who had been at the home approached him from behind and pointed a black revolver at him, police said. The suspect told the victim to "give it up."

The suspect ran off and got into a black sedan in which he fled, police said. He took the victim's wallet, which contained about $6,000. The victim told officers the suspect knew he had cashed a check earlier that day.

Officers later located the wallet and business cards near the backyard of the home, the report states. The cash was not with it.

Bystanders described the suspect as a black male about 5-foot-7 with black hair and brown eyes. He was wearing a baseball hat, brown pants and a white T-shirt.
