Aiken filmmaker Brent Hoover finally was able to present "his labor of love" to the local public at the Aiken Center for the Arts Friday.
His film "The Odyssey of Destiny" was released in December through Hoover's Aiken-based Hoover Studios, LLC, and has since received critical praises and awards such as the March 2015 Outstanding Achievement (Silver Medal) award for the Global Music Awards.
Interim executive director Mary Coleman introduced the film and Hoover to the awaiting audience sitting in the Brown Pavilion.
"I met him two months ago, and I was just so exhausted when he left because he's done so much already in his young life," Coleman told the audience. "We are proud of him." Hoover then came up and talked briefly about the film, acknowledged the cast and crew in attendance and thanked the USC Aiken School of Business Administration for their support.
"I don't regret this, not for a minute," he said.
Sitting in the front row were Quinten Johnson, who played Lt. Robert Smith, Elena Lazorishak, who played young Ava and Aaron Pate, the film's visual effects artist. Also present were noted Aiken residents such as Mayor Fred Cavanaugh and his wife Lee Cavanaugh. For more information on "The Odyssey of Destiny," visit www.odysseyofdestiny.com.
