The Aiken Department of Public Safety is investigating an armed robbery Wednesday during which the suspect was reported to have tried to have sex with the victim.

The incident happened about 10:30 p.m. at the Knights Inn on Richland Avenue, according to an incident report.

The 45-year-old victim, a Saluda woman, told officers she was in her room and heard a knock on the door, which she thought was her daughter who had left earlier. She opened the door and saw a man she didn't recognize who pointed a gun in her face and said, "You know what this is. Give me your money," according to the police report.

The victim said the unknown suspect attempted to have sex with her but she said no, police said. He tried to grab her and place her on the bed and she again told him no, at which point he picked up the gun and chambered a round into it, according to the report.

The suspect asked the victim for cash, then took her purse, which contained two cellphones and miscellaneous items, police said. He walked out of the room, at which point the victim ran outside and began to yell for help, according to the report.

The suspect ran around the side of the building, the report states. Officers spoke with a witness who confirmed the description of the suspect provided by the victim.

The suspect is described as a black male about 5-foot-10 and 170 pounds with black hair, brown eyes and a beard. He was wearing a white T-shirt and blue faded jeans. He left in a dark-green sedan.
