Aiken County Accommodations Tax Committee meets Tuesday to talk grant applications

The Aiken County Accommodations Tax Advisory Board Committee will meet Tuesday to discuss grant applications for several recreation spots around the County, which includes Langley Pond.

The 2 p.m. meeting is open to the public and will be held in the Shaw Conference Room in the Aiken County Government Center, 1930 University Parkway.

Under new business, the committee will discuss grant applications for a number of destination areas and other properties, including the Hollow Creek Fire Department. Grant funding discussions will include $20,000 for Boyd Pond Road, $20,000 for Langley Pond, $400,000 for the Center for African American History, Art and Culture and $6,000 for the Town of Jackson.

The Committee will also receive staff reports and updates on visitor center statistics, gift shop sales and local tourism development grant awards to date.

The Committee's next meeting will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 16.
