A woman went to the Aiken Department of Public Safety on April 18 to report that her ex-boyfriend had been harassing her.
After she had terminated their relationship, the ex would contact her repeatedly through social media and email, she said. After she cut off those means of communication, he would send her text messages throughout the night, she said. She said she blocked his phone number.
All communication from her ex-boyfriend stopped when she started dating another man, she said. But as soon as he was deployed to Honduras, she began receiving random gifts on her doorstep, almost daily, she told officers.
One gift was a gift card to Cracker Barrel, so the victim asked the cashier and manager at Cracker Barrel who purchased the gift card.
She was told it was a man accompanied by a juvenile with what appeared to be Down syndrome. The description matched her ex-boyfriend, the victim told officers.
The victim wanted the suspect placed on trespass notice from her home, and said she would talk to the homeowners association about putting him on trespass notice from the neighborhood.
Public Safety increased patrol in the area of her home for an extended period of time but was unable to place the suspect on trespass notice because officers could not contact him, police said.
