An Aiken County Sheriff Office vehicle was involved in an early morning collision Tuesday.
Two vehicles were involved, and both drivers were transported to an area hospital with minor injuries, according to S.C. Highway Patrol Lance Cpl. Judd Jones. The collision was reported about 5:40 a.m.
The Sheriff's Office vehicle, a 2011 Chevrolet Caprice driven by Deputy Nicholas Lott, was traveling north on U.S. 1 when a 1993 Ford Crown Victoria pulled out in front of the deputy from Old Jordan Road. That caused the officer's vehicle to strike the rear end of the Crown Victoria, said Jones.
According to a press release from the Aiken County Sheriff's Office, Lott was responding to a call regarding a prowler on Piper Road.
The driver of the Crown Victoria was charged with failure to yield right of way, according to Jones.
