GRANITEVILLE — Leavelle McCampbell Middle School drew plenty of after-school traffic Monday for the school's STEM Night, with emphasis on exposing students to career options heavily focused on science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
"We just wanted to bring an awareness to our students about the opportunities and careers ... in the future," said Marsha Peacock, who teaches sixth- through eighth-grade science.
The guest list included such organizations as Fort Gordon, Aiken County Humane Society, USC Aiken and Locks of Love.
Student attendance numbered around 450, Peacock said, noting that the event generated "a lot of buzz" during Tuesday's school session.
