An Aiken man reported that he was assaulted and robbed by gunpoint at a local laundromat, police said.
The incident happened Thursday shortly before 7:30 p.m. while the victim was counting money at Soap and Suds Laundromat located on Lee Lane, according to an Aiken Department of Public Safety report. The victim told police that a man walk up to him, placed an object to the side of his head and demanded money, police said.
When the victim turned around, the suspect struck him with what appeared to be handgun and threw him to the ground, the report states.
The suspect grabbed $12 from the victim and fled on a white or gray bicycle towards Seminole Street, according to the report.
The victim suffered injuries to the right side of his head.
The suspect was described as a black male standing about 6 feet tall and weighing approximately 175 pounds, police said. He was wearing a white collared shirt with a white do-rag and blue shorts.
Surveillance footage shows the suspect throwing a white KFC cup into the trash can. The cup was collected for fingerprinting.
