S.C. House bill 3560 could come up in the full House on Wednesday - related to teacher employment and a dismissal process.
A S.C. School Boards Association spokesman said in a press release the organization supports the measure. It would allow in part local school boards the flexibility of designating a hearing officer to conduct teaching appeal hearings. The officer must be an attorney, a mediator or an arbiter.
In a specific time frame, the officer would issue a report and a recommendation. A school board would retain the decision-making authority.
A House subcommittee and the full committee passed the bill unanimously, the press release said. House approval would move the measure to the Senate.
