An Aiken resident received a package with a check written up for a large sum of money from someone she didn't know.
According to an Aiken Department of Public Safety Report, a UPS next-day package from "Endless Mountain Corp. in Pennsylvania was delivered to the resident's Sierra Drive home Thursday. Inside, she found a check for $2,625 from Paul Ludgate.
The resident said she didn't know Ludgate or why the package was sent to her. She said she believed it was a scam so she contacted the FBI, which informed her that the business listed on the package "had been hacked." She was advised to contact local authorities.
Police took possession of the check and UPS package.
