The public is invited to the inaugural Car Show and Fun Day on from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Langley Pond Park.

It is a free event to benefit Area Churches Together Serving, or ACTS.

Cars of all makes and models - classic, muscle, new and antique - will be on show.

There will be games for all ages, door prizes, food by local vendors and several raffle opportunities. Langley Pond Park is at 113 Langley Dam Road in Langley.

The purpose of the Car Show and Fun Day is to bring awareness to hunger in the Aiken community and to raise funds for the ACTS food budget.

Nonperishable food items and financial donations will be accepted throughout the day.

"This is a different kind of food 'drive' that is being coordinated by Mr. Mark Sapp, a board member and chair of the Car Show committee," said Carla Cloud, ACTS executive director.

"We also are very grateful to Aiken Parks, Recreation and Tourism for their generous support by donating the use of Langley Pond Park."

According to Cloud, every dollar raised will buy $4 worth of food.

Although ACTS receives food items through the USDA and from donations, Cloud said it is necessary to raise $70,000 per year to supplement the food distribution programs.
