A Beech Island man was charged with minor in possession of alcohol and simple possession of marijuana.
About 12:09 a.m. Saturday, Aiken County Sheriff's Office deputies made contact with a suspicious vehicle on Pleasure Island Road in Warrenville after officers reported the vehicle was "driving at a high rate of speed," according to the report.
After making contact, Brett Ford, the driver, "leaned over into the passenger floor board and then got out of the vehicle," police said.
A juvenile was in the passenger side, according to reports.
Ford told officers he opened a beer and said he just drank half of the beer and put it on the floor when officers pulled up, police said.
Upon searching the vehicle, officers found a box on the passenger floor where the bottle of beer was. Inside the box, officers found a "small bag of marijuana and a meth glass pipe," according to the report.
Ford was charged and taken to the Aiken County detention center and was released on bond Sunday. The vehicle was turned over to a licensed driver, and the juvenile passenger was released to a guardian.
