Dancing with the Aiken Stars kicked off its third year on Sunday with the announcement of the dancers at Newberry Hall.
Dancers for this year include Beth Barranco and Buzz Rich; Lydia Sudick Bibeau and Cody Anderson; Aileen Hord Daly and John Tiffany; Lyddie Hansen and Leo Muniz; Lisa Tharp Bernard and Brad King; Anne Thomasson and Wes Hightower; Aja Vaughn and Ahmed Samaha; Connie Young and David Stinson; Rick McLeod, Cam Scott, Julie Adams and Collette Ball, and Heather Pack, Jennifer Brodie, Hillary Redd, Mallory Holley, Breigh Hall, Morgan Purvis, Rakesh Jasani, Jim Anderson, Carl Henson and Chad Matthews.
Voting costs $10 for each vote, and there's no limit to the amount of times you can vote, but, if you pay $100, you get one free vote.
This event will help raise money for the Child Advocacy Center and the Community Medical Clinic of Aiken County.
As of Sunday night, there is one table left in row one, two in row two and seven in row three, which doesn't include the bleacher seats that are available because the event will be at the USCA Convocation Center this year.
The dancers are all very excited and looking forward to November.
"I'm doing this because I can't tell Betty (Ryberg) no. As a nurse, I love the Child Advocacy Center and the help they bring the kids. I truly believe in it," dancer Beth Barranco said. "I'm very excited about it. We're going to win. It's going to be a lot of fun, and I'm really excited to be a part of it."
Not all of the dancers were as excited to be a part of this at the beginning.
"Chad Matthews called and asked me if I would do it, and I said no, but Aja (Vaughn) has a lot of experience, and I thought we'd have a lot of fun together," dancer Ahmed Samaha said.
"I think our chances are pretty good. The money is going toward a good cause, and I know a lot of people who would be willing to give money, whether it's just to laugh at us or not," Vaughn added.
Not only are the dancers excited, but according to Mallory Holley, director of the Community Medical Clinic of Aiken County, others are getting excited, as well.
"There is a lot of excitement around it. A lot of people are wanting tickets and tables," Holley said.
This year, unlike last year, there will be no satellite locations, so the only way to enjoy the show while it's going on is to actually be there. This year's goal is to top the money raised last year of $100,000.
The event will be held at 7 p.m. on Nov. 15.
