MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) -- A portion of north Myrtle Beach is closed due to a sewage spill.
The Myrtle Beach Sun News reports officials found a sewer pipe break Monday morning, closing down a 500-foot wide section until further notice. North Myrtle Beach city spokesman Pat Dowling says the pipe is connected to a small pump station and the break allowed 300 to 400 gallons of sewage get into the water before it was discovered and fixed.
Dowling says the state Department of Health and Environmental Control officials will take water samples of the area Tuesday.
