The Aiken County School Board and the Superintendent Search Committee will hear input from community residents at meetings Thursday and again on June 1.

The meetings will be held in each of the District's five areas, and two meetings are scheduled for Area 4.

The meetings are designed to give residents a forum to share ideas and express their thoughts and opinions on the qualities they would like to see in a new superintendent. Residents also can communicate their ideas electronically on the District's Website at acps.schoolfusion.us. The deadline for online comments is Monday.

The search committee members will consider the public's comments as they narrow the pool of candidates, and the Board will consider the input as they determine the finalists and conduct candidate interviews, according to the school district.

Input will be gathered and shared with the Superintendent Search Committee and all members of the School Board after Monday.

The committee has been directed to select at least five and no more than 10 candidates for superintendent to present to the Board.

Based on the Board's projected timeline, the search committee's recommendations will be given to Board Chairman Rosemary English no later than June 15 in an alphabetized, non-ranked list.

The Board is expected to introduce the three or more finalists at a public reception June 26, conduct interviews June 27 and name the new superintendent at a meeting June 30.

District Superintendent Dr. Beth Everitt will retire at the end of July.
