An Aiken man won $200,000 from a scratch-off lottery ticket he bought on his way to work, according to a press release from the S.C. Education Lottery.
He bought the winning 50X ticket at the Hot Spot #3003 in New Ellenton when he stopped for a cup of coffee. Already parked at work, he locked the winning ticket in his car and went in to work.
"It was hard to concentrate," the man said. "I was pretty hyped up."
His boss gave him permission to leave, but he stayed and worked the rest of his shift.
"I'm taking today off," he said.
He plans to start looking for a new house with his winnings.
Two top prizes of $200,000 remain in the 50X game, at odds of 1 in 696,000.
For selling the claimed ticket, the Hot Spot #3003 in New Ellenton received a commission of $2,000.
