In support of the Wreaths Across America organization, local resident Tony Venetz Sr. is holding his second golf tournament on June 29.
The registration deadline is Monday.
The tournament will be held at Houndslake Country Club, 901 Houndslake Drive, check-in is at 8 a.m., with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.
The 18-hole, four-person captain's choice event has two divisions: A men's and Jack/Jill.
The cost is $70 per person, which includes a cart, range balls and lunch.
Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place, and closest to the pin.
There will also be a raffle and silent auction.
Wreaths Across America's "mission, Remember, Honor, Teach, is carried out in part by coordinating wreath laying ceremonies a specified Saturday in December at Arlington, as well as veterans' cemeteries and other locations in all 50 states and beyond," according to the organization's website.
Venetz has raised money for and participated in the event since 2013 in honor of his son, Sgt. First Class Anthony Venetz Jr., who died in 2011 from injuries caused by a noncombat-related incident in Afghanistan. The junior Venetz is buried at Arlington National Cemetery.
Last year, the senior Venetz said to the Aiken Standard that he would like to bring the international event here.
National Wreaths Across America Day will be observed Dec. 12, and a wreath-laying ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. at St. Thaddeus Episcopal Church, 125 Pendleton St. S.W.
Southlawn Cemetery and Mausoleum, 4524 Whiskey Road, is one local place that will receive wreath donations and hold its own ceremony.
"Southlawn Cemetery ... is the final resting place of nearly 400 veterans," as stated in a press release.
Donations are also being accepted.
