An Aiken man claiming to be possessed by demons still is missing after running away from his family on the York Street bridge Tuesday.
Aiken Department of Public Safety officers responded to York Street at 5:30 p.m. where a woman told officers her fiance had run away from her and other family members while they were walking to see a priest, according to reports.
The woman said her fiance recently had been baptized, but started feeling strange and missed work Monday, police said.
She said he told her he was possessed by three demons, and added she believed him because of a "coldness" in their home, and the curtains raised up without assistance, police said.
The woman contacted multiple family members, and convinced her fiance to go visit a local priest, according to reports.
When they crossed the bridge on York Street, the man started screaming and said his fiance was going to push him off the bridge, according to reports.
The woman said he ran toward Park Avenue, and was last seen running north on Chesterfield Street, police said.
Officers were unable to locate the man.
Dispatch confirmed a 911 call came from a male subject at the same time of the incident, in which the caller said people were chasing him, according to reports.
The man was described as a white male, standing 6 feet tall and weighing 185 pounds. He has brown eyes, black hair and was last seen wearing a blue shirt, olive shorts and Nike shoes.
