An Aiken County resident was killed in a vehicular crash in Lexington County Wednesday night.
Demetrius Emanuel Paige, 20, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher. Paige was a resident of North Augusta, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
No other injuries were reported.
The crash happened at 8:23 p.m. on I-20 in the eastbound lane at mile marker 46 near Gilbert. The driver of a tractor trailer had parked the rig on the side of the road to assist another motorist, according to the Highway Patrol, and a 2011 Chrysler, driven by Paige, struck the rear end of the tractor trailer.
Paige died from blunt force trauma to the head, Fisher said. Paige was wearing a seat belt.
The wreck is under investigation by the Lexington County Coroner's Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
