Aiken County School Board sets interviews for superintendent candidates

Members of the Aiken County Board of Education will interview the four finalists for the position of District superintendent Saturday in executive session.

The finalists are Sean Alford, assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction at Dorchester School District Two in Summerville; King Laurence, associate superintendent for the Division of Instruction and Accountability with the Aiken County Public School District; Kevin O'Gorman, associate superintendent for instruction and accountability with the Berkeley County School District in Moncks Corner; and Mark Petersen, superintendent of Greenwood 52 School District in Ninety Six.

The Board will meet in regular session at 8 a.m. before going into executive session to conduct the candidate interviews. Following the executive session, the Board is expected to reconvene at 5 p.m. to announce work conducted and consider actions proposed.

The Board is expected to name the new superintendent at a special-called meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the District office.
