WESTMINSTER -- A 31-year-old Seneca man as died in an apparent drowning on the Chauga River near Westminster.
Oconee County coroner Karl Addis identified the victim as Troy Jamal Brown. His body was recovered Saturday evening in about 11 feet of water.
Addis says Brown had jumped into the river at Chau-Ram County Park where a calm pool of water was located. As he tried to swim toward acquaintances, he called for help. Addis says Brown was trying to swim back to shore when he went under the water, surfacing twice before he disappeared.
An autopsy was scheduled for Sunday.
