After scores of residents showed up to the Aiken Chick-fil-A on Wednesday, the story was different on Friday.

Fans of the fast food chicken chain were there for their daily fix, but the "National Same Sex Kiss Day at Chick-fil-A" didn't really pan out - as was the case with much of the nation.

A City of Aiken Public Safety Officer was posted out front for a short period of time, but left early into the lunch rush.

That stood in stark contrast to Wednesday, where two officers worked the traffic and crowds that had amassed at the store on Whiskey Road.

Chick-fil-A announced record numbers from Wednesday, a day in which former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee orchestrated an "appreciation day" for the fast food chain.

Both events have come in response to Chick-fil-A President Dan Cathy's comments on his endorsement of "the biblical definition of the family unit."

Friday's "Kiss-In" support saw nearly 14,000 Facebook users sign on, compared to the over 630,000 that subscribed to Wednesday's "appreciation day."

As of 5 p.m. on Friday, most kiss-ins went on without incident. A store in California was defaced with graffiti.
