A man was charged with cruelty to children after choking his nephew and slamming him down in a chair while they were wrestling, according to the Aiken County Sheriff's Office.
Carl Watson, 60, was placed in the Aiken County detention center Tuesday and released the same day.
The incident happened Dec. 30 at a home in Batesburg, according to a sheriff's report. The complainant, who is the father of the juvenile victim, told officers Watson and his son were "play wrestling" in the den of the home.
The boy's father went into the kitchen but was called back into the den a few minutes later, at which point his son told him Watson "choked him and then slammed him down on the chair, and then let him go," the report states. The father also said Watson told him the juvenile victim "got disrespectful," and that he admitted to choking and slamming the boy down.
Watson left the home after the incident.
