Officers were called to an Aiken restaurant early Thursday after a 78-year-old man pulled a knife in the restaurant, according to the Aiken Department of Public Safety.

The incident happened about 2 a.m. at the Waffle House on Richland Avenue, according to an incident report. An anonymous witness reported that a man pulled out a knife by a back corner booth, and officers were directed to a 78-year-old man in the restaurant.

The suspect said he pulled the knife on one of the "punks" in the restaurant because he had to show them they couldn't "beat" him, the report states. Witnesses in the restaurant said they saw the suspect pull the knife out and move toward the 23-year-old victim. The victim told officers he and the suspect got into an argument earlier, and that the suspect pulled the knife out "in an attempt to intimidate him."

The victim declined to press charges, and Waffle House said the suspect is a "good customer" and they didn't want to place him on trespass notice. He was instructed to pay his bill and leave the restaurant for the night.
