A juvenile was detained Friday after reaching into a woman's vehicle and taking her wallet after an argument with the woman and her son, according to the Aiken Department of Public Safety.
The incident happened about 6 p.m. at Eustis Park, according to an incident report.
The 40-year-old victim said she took her son back to the park to get his basketball, and while at the park, two juveniles began arguing with her and her son, according to the report.
The victim said she and her son returned to the vehicle after a few minutes of arguing, and the two suspects followed them back, police said.
One of the juveniles reached into the vehicle, grabbed the victim's wallet and took off running, according to the report.
The victim and her son ran after them on foot, and one of the suspects began throwing items from the wallet to the ground, according to the report.
The woman was able to recover her wallet, credit cards and a small amount of cash, police said.
The juvenile who took the wallet and threw the items out of it was seen running into a home on Dillon Avenue, according to the report.
Officers made contact with the suspect, whom the victim identified as the one who took her wallet, according to the report.
