GRANITEVILLE - Megiddo Dream Station's 92-foot-tall cross is standing high above the Horse Creek Valley after being erected Friday near the William Gregg monument in the back of the historic Graniteville Cemetery.

Headrick Signs & Graphics, which is based in Laurel, Mississippi, made the huge symbol of Christianity out of plate steel and steel angle.

The cross, which is painted white, weighs 33,000 pounds and is anchored in 39,000 pounds of concrete, said John Rebry, a Headrick account executive.

Southway Crane & Rigging of North Augusta supplied the two cranes that put up the cross, which arrived at the site in three pieces.

It took around four hours to assemble the cross and hoist it into position.
