USC Aiken's University Theatre Players will present Moss Hart's 1940s-set comedy "Light Up the Sky" this week.
Directed by Jack Benjamin, the play will run at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday to Saturday and at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Etherredge Center's O'Connell Theatre, 471 University Parkway.
Tickets are $15 for adults; $12 for seniors, faculty and staff; and $8 for students.
"Light Up the Sky" focuses "around a group of New York theatre-folk who attend the opening of their new play in Boston," according to the play's description. "The lead actress, the backer and several others are in seventh heaven at the prospect of a tremendous success which they hope for in the work of a young unknown writer."
Not only did Benjamin direct it before at USCA, but he's "met every character in this play at one time or another," he said. "It's about theater people (and) shows some of the ridiculousness that some people go through when putting a show together."
