Shaw AREVA MOX Services and its subcontractors this week donated 14,625 pounds of food and $7,600 during a food drive for the Golden Harvest Food Bank.
The food drive, which had a theme of "MOX Can Do," was held at buildings throughout the National Nuclear Security Administration's MOX project on the Savannah River Site.
"We are proud to partner with the Golden Harvest Food Bank in its efforts to provide food for those in need in the Central Savannah River Area," said Kelly Trice, president and chief operating officer of MOX Services. "Our team enthusiastically embraced a can-do attitude in leading a successful food drive for those less fortunate."
The MOX project has collected more than 23,000 pounds of food for Golden Harvest during the past two years in food drives.
"With the difficult economy, some people in our community are forced to choose between buying food or purchasing medicine and other necessities," said Travis McNeal, executive director of Golden Harvest Food Bank. "We are grateful for contributions like those from Shaw AREVA MOX Services that make a big impact on the lives of many families in our area by helping us provide food at a time when it is needed most."
