The Curiosity Shop and its Dickens Cafe is commemorating Pirate Week today through Saturday.

The week is filled with special and ongoing pirate-themed events, including a special addition on Wednesday, which is International Talk Like a Pirate Day. Customers are encouraged to dress like a pirate when they visit the downtown shop this week.

On Tuesday, there is a special pirate edition of a trivia contest featuring one pirate question per round. Trivia starts at 7 p.m.

On Wednesday, visitors will get a turn in the Talk-Like-a-Pirate video booth.

Ongoing activities include a pirate scavenger hunt, DVDs of sea-faring movies, and pirate word scrambles for kids.

The Dickens Cafe will get into the spirit by serving pirate-inspired favorites like clam chowder, mojito rum cake, and key lime pie.

The Curiosity Shop is located at 224 Park Ave. S.W. in downtown Aiken.

It is an import store, which reflects and inspires those from and interested in the British Isles, according to its website. The shop includes a grocery section featuring foods from more than 14 countries and a gift shop including jewelry, tea pots and tea accessories, books and other novelty items.
