A pizza deliveryman said he was robbed at gunpoint by multiple men late Friday, according to the Aiken Department of Public Safety.
The incident happened about 10:30 p.m. on Columbia Avenue while the victim, a 28-year-old man, was delivering $80 in pizza to an address there, according to an incident report. The victim said three men approached him while he walked to the door. One of them was armed with a single-barrel sawed-off shotgun and one had a handgun. All three men had been hiding in the woods near the home.
The man with the handgun placed the barrel to the back of the victim's head, and they ordered him to give them the pizza and the money he had, police said. The men also took his cellphone and searched his vehicle for other valuables, according to reports.
At some point, the suspect with the handgun struck the victim in the face with the weapon, police said. After finding no more valuables, they told him to get in his car and drive away. The victim drove back to his business, the Domino's on York Street, to report the robbery.
Employees at the restaurant told officers the pizza order was called in from a phone with a Las Vegas area code, the report states. The victim told officers his cellphone could not be tracked by manufacturer applications, and could not provide a serial number, police said.
Officers saw no signs of injury on the victim's face from the handgun strike, police said. They searched the area near the home and found an insurance card and debit card that did not appear to have been there long, according to reports.
