A Gilbert man was sentenced this week for violent crimes he committed in Edgefield County in 2014.
Steve Ashley Dubose, 32, of 211 Old Pond Road, received 20 years for first-degree burglary, five years each for charges of possessing burglary tools, grand larceny and possession of a stolen pickup and three years for failing to stop for a law enforcement officer, according to a press release.
A total of 85 percent of that sentence must be served, according to the release.
Dubose was arrested in Edgefield in July 2014 but while out on bond, he was arrested in Lexington County in January 2015, for firing multiple gunshots at a Lexington deputy.
Dubose is awaiting charges of attempted murder, discharging a firearm into the deputy's vehicle, second-degree burglar, grand larceny and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime in relation to that incident.
"The Edgefield sentence, Dubose's prior criminal background, and the Lexington charges indicate he has a total disregard for law and order," Solicitor Donnie Myers stated in the release. "We have begun preparing for trial against him in Lexington."
