MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) -- Horry County police say a newborn girl was rescued from a dumpster in Socastee by two teenage brothers who were throwing away trash.
The Sun News of Myrtle Beach reports (http://bit.ly/1HbrF7p ) the mother turned herself in after police released photos of her.
Lt. Raul Denis says the woman will be charged later Friday. He says the eight-pound-six-ounce infant is healthy.
Jessica Price told WPDE she called 911 after her 19- and 13-year-old sons heard crying coming from the container and found the infant about 2:30 p.m. Thursday. She says the infant was inside a trash bag. Her umbilical cord was wrapped around her neck.
Under Daniel's Law, a newborn can be legally abandoned, but the infant must be left in someone's care at a police or fire station or hospital.
