The owner of Aiken's newest clothing boutique said her motivation the long line of successful entrepreneurs from which she comes.
Rachel Templeton opened her new store, Boots & Bows, last month. With a few weeks under her belt, Templeton said the store has gotten off to a good start.
"It's something I've always wanted to do," Templeton said. "All of my family are in small businesses, so I've got my grandma supporting me and the rest of my family, so we're all working together."
Located at 601 Silver Bluff Road Suite 12, Templeton said the moving-in process took about three months. The store sells boots, jewelry, women's clothing and men's boots. The store also sells T-shirts, baby clothes, hair bows and homemade jewelry and designs.
Also, the store will begin monogramming items in May or June, said Templeton.
The location of the store is the former location of Palmetto Cakes and is located next to Bronze Body. Templeton said the lack of retail in that particular area motivated her to open her business there.
"We were driving by and saw the spot and figured it would be a good place to have our business," she said. "There's no retail here, so we want to offer that option to customers in this area."
Boots & Bows is open Wednesday through Saturday. The store is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesdays and until 6 p.m. Thursday through Saturday. For more information, call 803-226-0008.
