An Aiken man was jailed on assault charges after attacking his son with a knife during an argument, according to the Aiken Department of Public Safety.
Tyrone Lee Bacon, 58, of Silver Bluff Road, was charged with second-degree assault and battery. He was placed in the Aiken County detention center, where he remained Monday afternoon.
The incident happened just after midnight Saturday at an apartment on Silver Bluff Road, according to an incident report. Officers arrived to find the 33-year-old victim standing in the yard with a laceration to his hand that he said was caused by his father with a kitchen knife.
Bacon told officers he and his son got into an argument that turned physical, and that his son struck him in the face with a chair, police said. He said he never had a knife in his possession and didn't know how the victim received the cut on his hand, according to the report.
Bacon's wife told officers the two men got into a "heated" argument after they had been drinking and that Bacon got into his son's face and threw a punch at him, police said. Bacon then went to the kitchen, grabbed a knife and went after his son with it, according to the report.
The victim and a friend tried to subdue Bacon with a chair, during which the victim was cut on his right hand, the report states.
