Two people were arrested and charged with child abuse after bringing a toddler to the Aiken Regional Medical Centers emergency room in February with several injuries, according to the Aiken Department of Public Safety.
Michael Sean Rannie, 26, was charged with two counts of unlawful neglect of a child.
Nadine LaFleur, 39, was charged with one count of unlawful neglect of a child.
Rannie and LaFleur turned themselves in April 9 and were placed in the Aiken County detention center, but have since been released on bond.
Rannie and LaFleur brought a toddler to the emergency room Feb. 10 with a spiral fracture to her upper right arm, according to an incident report.
Arrest warrants state the girl had a burn to the left side of her face, "a human bite mark" to her upper right thigh and a spiral fracture to her right humerus bone.
"The defendant (LaFleur) did not seek medical attention for the burn, leaving the minor child at an unreasonable risk of harm or danger," the warrant states. "The defendant continued to leave the child in the care of the biological father, and she sustained a human bite mark and then spiral fracture to her right humerus bone. This also placed the minor child at an unreasonable risk of harm or danger."
According to the warrants, investigators believe the burn and bite mark happened sometime in October, and the fracture happened Feb. 10.
