Aiken Department of Public Safety officers responded Tuesday to a report of an assault and battery on Dillon Avenue.
The 49-year-old victim told officers that eight to 10 black juveniles assaulted him and struck him multiple times, according to the police report.
The victim told officers that he saw the juveniles walking down the road and tried to give them advice on life. He said the juveniles then began to assault him.
The victim said he curled up on the ground while being beaten, and one of the suspects took his Samsung Galaxy S4 ($200), then the group ran away, he told police.
The victim said he did not wish to press assault charges but wanted to press charges on the theft of his phone.
He could not provide descriptions of the assailants.
