An unknown suspect who claimed to be a repairman stole an elderly Aiken man's wallet, then pushed him to the ground, according to the Aiken County Sheriff's Office.
The incident happened about 4:45 p.m. Monday at a home on Williston Road in Aiken, according to a sheriff's report.
The 83-year-old victim told officers the suspect walked into his backyard and "began to tell him he repairs roofs and (the victim's) roof needed some repair."
The victim said the suspect began to look around inside the home for leaks when he got behind the victim and took the victim's wallet from his pocket, police said. Once the victim realized the suspect took his wallet, the suspect pushed the victim to the ground, according to the report.
Several witnesses told officers they saw the suspect leave the home in an unknown vehicle. The victim said he did not need medical attention.
