People who are seeking work will have a variety of opportunities from which to choose during a job fair Wednesday, May 6.

The event will be from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Aiken Goodwill Job Connection, 1015 Pine Log Road.

It will be part of the Goodwill Industries of Middle Georgia and the CSRA's celebration of Goodwill Industries Week. Methodist minister Dr. Edgar J. Helms founded Goodwill in 1902.

Employers scheduled to have representatives at the job fair include ASCO Valve, Dumpster Depot, Crothall Healthcare and DayBreak Adult Care Services. Others will be Tri-Development Center of Aiken County, McDonald's and the Aiken County Sheriff's Office.

Also attending will be representatives of the Aiken Warrior Project, Goodwill Staffing Services and Helms College, Goodwill's culinary school in Augusta.

A boot camp to prepare job seekers for the fair will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Friday at the Aiken Goodwill Job Connection. Boot camp participants will receive preferred admission to the job fair.

"The job seekers who visit with employers at our Goodwill job fairs are among the thousands of individuals that Goodwill helps each year to find new or better employment," said James K. Stiff, the president of Goodwill Industries of Middle Georgia and the CSRA. "During the past five years, our Goodwill served more than 83,000 individuals at our Job Connection career centers and helped more than 16,000 people find competitive employment. Each of those jobs represents a member of the community experiencing the pride and dignity of a paycheck and an opportunity for a bigger slice of the American dream."
