Two hairstyle schools are joining forces Friday to hold a hair fashion show that will go to benefit the Children's Cancer Center.
According to a press release, Aiken School of Cosmetology and Aiken School of Barbering are holding the Decades of Hair Fashion Show. The show will be 6:30 p.m. May 1 at the Aiken Family YMCA, 621 Trolley Line Road, in Graniteville.
Tickets are $5 per person, with proceeds going to support the child cancer care initiative.
Tickets can be purchased at either of the schools or for $6 each at the event.
Models in the fashion show will be paired with a cosmetology or barbering student who will style the model's hair and create a look for the model according to each of three categories.
Categories include Decades of Hair, Formal and Avant Garde. The new category this year is the barbering category specifically for Aiken School of Barbering students.
Angela Morrison, the owner of both businesses, said the fashion show occurs twice a year to give students a fun way to practice what they have learned in school.
"It allows us to raise money to give back to the community. We are excited to include the barbering school students this year and see what they bring to the runway," Morrison wrote.
The barbering school is at 215 Richland Ave. E. and the cosmetology school at 225 Richland Ave. E. For more information, call 803-644-7133.
