A North Augusta man was arrested for criminal domestic violence Monday after he reportedly threw a cup of coffee and attempted to choke a woman.

Brandon Musgrove, 29, was charged with criminal domestic violence and placed in the Aiken County detention center, where he remained Tuesday.

Deputies with the Aiken County Sheriff's Office responded to an altercation on Sudlow Lake Road in Langley at 7:22 a.m. Monday.

The victim told police she and Musgrove were once living together.

Police said Musgrove asked the victim to take her to his workplace. During their commute, they stopped at a gas station so Musgrove could get a cup of coffee, and once they started driving again, they began to argue about the their relationship, police said.

The victim told officers Musgrove said, "Oops," and threw his cup of coffee in the backseat of the victim's rental car, according to reports.

The victim told Musgrove to get out of the car, at which point he said she was making him late for work, and grabbed her by the throat with his hands, police said.

Musgrove told officers his coffee accidentally spilled because the victim slammed on the brakes and started hitting him.

Photos were taken of the coffee spill and the victim's neck, which had red marks on it, police said.
