A man is facing criminal domestic violence and pointing and presenting a firearm charges after an altercation Wednesday.

Jeremy Smith, 41, was arrested after the Aiken County Sheriff's Office responded to a domestic call with shots fired.

Upon arrival, Smith had already left, according to reports.

The victim stated she lived with Smith, police said. She said Smith "busted through the front door with a rifle," while the victim was in the shower, reports stated.

The victim said she yelled for help, and her neighbor came over to the residence.

Smith then pointed the rifle at the neighbor and said, "Who ... is in my house?" according to reports.

The victim said she ran toward the kitchen, and Smith said he needed money.

The victim ran toward the back room when Smith fired a shot through the bedroom and then left in a black Chevrolet Tahoe, reports stated.

Officers searched the house and found the rifle and shell casing. Officers also noticed a bullet hole going through the bedroom wall and through the other bedroom wall leading outside.

The neighbor wrote a statement wishing to press charges. The victim denied making a statement or completing victim paperwork, but did fill out a case suspension form for criminal domestic violence charges, police said.

The victim stated she was "in fear for her life" because she did not know what Smith would do to her.

Smith was later pulled over by officers and transported to the Aiken County detention center, where he remained Thursday morning.
