The Aiken County School Board is expected to vote on a bid to install artificial turf at the North Augusta High School football stadium at its meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the District office, 1000 Brookhaven Drive.

The bid for the work, which was made by H.G. Reynolds Company Inc., is not to exceed $671,472. The funds for the project will come from the Five-Year Facility Improvement Plan Athletic Facilities Fund.

The Board approved artificial turf for North August High in March. Funding from the project will come from money the District has been saving for a number of years for major improvements at athletic facilities.

The Board also approved improvements at athletic facilities for each of the District's other six high schools in the next few years. Funding for those projects will come from money generated from the District's bond premiums based on its good credit rating and low interest rates.

The Board also is expected to vote on a bid for the demolition of the 5th Hall Buildings at North Augusta High to prepare for phase 2A of construction, using sales tax bond money. The bid from H.G. Reynolds Company Inc. for the work is not to exceed $231,372. I

In November, county voters approved a 1 percent tax increase to fund renovations and improvements at five county schools.

Other consent items, which the Board votes on as a group, are:

- Grants for the Aiken County Career and Technology Center and North Augusta High

- Consideration of milk and bread bids for the Office of School Food Service

- Student expulsions and out-of-district transfer requests.

During executive session, the Board will hear a legal briefing, administrative appointments and students appeals.

Under special orders of business, the Board will recognize:

- ACCTC HOSA Health Care display winners

- Aiken County Young Entrepreneur Academy participants

- Most Outstanding FBLA Chapter for South Carolina - North Augusta High

- Middle School Honor Choir - Leavelle McCampbell Middle

A special called meeting will be held at 6 p.m. June 2 for public input regarding the 2015-16 budget.
