Live music, barbecue and craft beer are in store for the Aiken Downtown Development Association's first Hops and Hogs event.
The free gathering will be from 6 to 10:30 p.m. May 29 in downtown Aiken on the corner of Hayne Avenue and Pendleton Street.
Everyone participating is regional, according to Avery Spears-Mahoney, the association's executive director.
Aiken's Palmetto Groove Band will perform.
Providing the night's barbecue will be Warrenville's Palmetto Pork House and Aiken's Ultimate Tailgaters BBQ.
New Moon Cafe of downtown Aiken will serve select menu items.
The attending South Carolina breweries will be Fatty's Beer Works, of Charleston; River Rat Brewery, of Columbia; Freehouse Brewery, of Charleston; Westbrook Brewing, of Mount Pleasant; River Dog Brewing Co., of Ridgeland; and COAST Brewing Co., of Charleston.
Charlotte's The Unknown Brewery Co. and Edgefield's Carolina Moon Distillery will also be present.
Aiken Brewing Co. will be selling shirts at the event.
Spears-Mahoney said she hopes the event attracts people from all over South Carolina to downtown Aiken and to make it an annual occurrence.
