Aiken residents can sample some good food and help support a nonprofit organization Friday.
The annual Aiken's Cookin' with Celebrity Chefs event, which benefits Mental Health America of Aiken County, will be held Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at The Willcox, 100 Colleton Ave. S.W.
Eighteen chefs will bring their best culinary creation to the event.
Each participant will have a dish that can be sampled, and dishes will vary from lemon pound cake to smoked brisket.
Mental Health America of Aiken County Board President Liz Neal said the chefs choose what foods they will bring to the event.
At the end of the night, guests will vote on best dessert; most flavorful; best presentation and best overall.
Chefs and organizations set to compete are Jennie Montgomery, Charlie Hartz and Robert Miller; Aiken Electric Cooperative, Aiken-Barnwell Mental Health, United Way of Aiken County, Cherry Bekaert & Holland LLP, George Funeral Home, Kristen Sojourner, Aiken Rotary, Cumberland Village, Aurora Pavilion, Lee Cheeks, ResCare, Hitchcock Place, Wayne's Automotive, Aiken Trader, Peggy Thome, Off the Egg, Don Cerra and NHC Home Care.
Advance tickets are $40 and can be purchased at The Willcox, Mental Health America of Aiken County, 3 Monkeys Fine Gifts and Denny Michaelis State Farm.
Tickets also will be available at the door for $45.
