In recent years, the oldest attendee has been 103 and the one who traveled the furthest came from Florida, meaning classmates far and near are still coming to Ridge Spring-Monetta High School, formerly known as the Monetta School.
The school, located at 10 JP Kneece Drive in Monetta, will host the 22nd annual Old Monetta School Reunion. The reunion will be 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on June 13.
The reunion is open to anyone who attended the school from 1927 to 1957.
Lunette Spradley Yonce, one of the organizers of the event, said recognition is always given to the oldest attendee, the one who has traveled the furthest and the class with the most participants.
The reunion will include food, beverages and an opportunity to donate to the school.
"We've always donated to the library over the years, so now we're donating to other needs the school may have," said Yonce, who graduated in 1954.
In addition, the reunion will feature a memorial service for classmates who have died in the year since the last reunion.
Attendance in recent years has circulated around 75 members and Yonce said they are expecting about 60 this year.
"We'll be using our canes and walkers, but we'll be there," Yonce said, laughing. "But it's really exciting to see old classmates and everyone always looks forward to it."
